Kids PADI Seal Team Dive Camp

Kids Seal Team Dive Camp

Narima Diving’s Seal Team Dive Camp is for kids who are ready to have fun, meet new friends, learn some really awesome stuff in the pool, and who like adventure (and getting their photo taken!).

The PADI Seal Team Dive Camp Program is the perfect way to start your scuba adventure; designed for young would-be divers (8 yrs and up) it is comprised of 5 action-packed and fun Aquamissions.

Official PADI Seal Team Members must complete 5 aquamissions. Our camp covers this in 2.5 days.

What’s an AquaMission? It’s an underwater pool adventure where kids learn the basics of scuba diving, and build a safe and solid foundation of scuba skills. These skills include things like buoyancy control, mask clearing, regulator recovery, etc.

Completion of these 5 missions is equal to completing OW Confined 1, applicable for 12 months. These AquaMissions therefore offer a link for PADI Seals to the Junior Scuba Diver or Junior Open Water Diver course when they are old enough and ready.

Max. numbers: 8-12 children per dive camp.

Pre-requisites:

  • 8 yrs or older
  • Pool or shallow water only
  • Able to swim
  • Able to speak english.

We also offer an optional extra day at the end of the camp, where your PADI Seal goes out diving on the boat…in the ocean for 2 dives!

Schedule

Upon arrival your first evening or afternoon the kids get a chance to meet each other, to watch the PADI Seal Team animated DVD, and collect their very own Seal Team Aquamission Activity Book, and Aquamission logbook. Whilst they are busy we would ask the parent or guardian(s) to sign the PADI Seal Team Statement.

From this point on each session and aquamission is comprised of a briefing, skill session and game designed to help children learn responsibility and teamwork whilst having fun.

Day 1: AM
Aquamission 1

Skills in the pool this morning include such tasks as donning and adjusting scuba equipment, underwater breathing and swimming, Air guage reading, Air supply signalling, equalising, practicing hand signals (up,down,ok, problem, stop) and making a proper ascent.
After learning these new, exciting skills the kids will the kids will become comfortable playing a toss and catch game (using an underwater frisbee or torpedo) in buddy pairs.

Day 1: PM
Aquamission 2

Skills in the pool this afternoon start with regulator removal and bubble blowing, regulator replacement and clearing (purge button), regulator recovery (to the side), mask equalisation, and practicing more hand signals (such as blow bubbles)
Game: In their buddy pairs we race to collect coins and toss coins into a bucket (this is harder than it sounds what with refraction underwater!)

Day 2: AM
Aquamission 3

The pool session this morning teaches slighlty more advanced skills such as inflating and deflating scuba at the surface, clearing a partially flooded mask, using an Alternate Air Source for 30 seconds, and practicing some new hand signals (low on air,out of air, share air).
Now it’s time for an underwater relay race and the upside-down ping pong ball and spoon race.

Day 2: PM
Aquamission 4

Skills in the pool this afternoon teach a second way to remove and replace a regulator (blow method) and to recover and replace a regulator (over the shoulder). We also begin the bouyancy basics by learning how to fin pivot (using the inflator button), and how to hover motionless (a situation I doubt you often see your child in!)
Time to play with bouyancy, this afternoon’s games involve an obstacle course and hula hoops!

Day 3: AM
Aquamission 5

Skills in the pool this morning involve snorkel use, snorkel clearing, exchanging a snorkel for regulator and back at surface, swimming at the surface in scuba whilst using a snorkel and a full skills circuit re-capping all the skills learnt over the Aquamissions.

Day 3: PM
AWARE Kids

This afternoon is a little different we will actively teach the kids about issues facing the underwater world and provide a hands-on opportunity to participate in solutions. We hope to encourage younger generations to participate in conservation activities, and this afternoon will conduct a Beach Clean-up.

Day 3: 5/6.pm:
Celebration/ Award Ceremony

Time for some recognition for all that has been accomplished. We will be hosting a Celebration Barbecue at Narima Resort. The whole family will have a chance to look through photos from our Aquamissions and we will present each child with a PADI Seal Team Wall Certificate.

When you think about it – the PADI Seal Team program is pretty awesome for kids (and their families!)
