Divemaster Internship

Do you want to become a professional Scuba Diver for Free?

Our PADI Divemaster Internship allows you to receive free training in return for work experience. Get trained and certified as a professional PADI Divemaster, without the expense! Narima Diving are proud to be affiliated with IDC-Lanta (professional level scuba diving training), for more information on Divemaster Internships read below or click here.

Add to your training with real-life, hands-on experience. We believe this is the best grounding you can get if you’d like to take your diving career to the next step. You will be qualified to guide certified divers, conduct PADI Scuba Reviews and assist PADI Instructors in some of their tasks. This qualification allows you to make money from scuba diving. Earn a living, doing what you love! Become a professional member of PADI, the world’s biggest dive educator, and you’ll be able to work in the dive industry in PADI dive centres and resorts around the world.

Please see the Divemaster page for further information about the PADI Divemaster course.

How long is the programme?

The Divemaster Course itself can be completed in 2-6 weeks, although if you have more time, it is a more relaxed environment! The time it takes is very dependent on the amount of experience and number of logged dives you already have, as well as how hard you are prepared to work, as there is quite a lot of self-study involved!

You must then commit to working as a PADI Divemaster with Narima Diving for a further 45 working days (this is days you go out on the boat and work as a Divemaster) – so you need to have a certain amount of flexibility in your travel commitments. We would recommend 3-6 months as a good period of time to allocate to this project.

We hope that after you complete your training programme, you will continue to work as a paid professional PADI Divemaster with us.

How much will it cost?

We provide all your training, manuals, equipment rental and up to 40 dives for free. In return, you must agree to work for us for a further 45 days after your certification as a PADI Divemaster is complete. You will gain invaluable work experience during this time, which will help you find your next job.

You must have enough money to cover your living costs during the programme.

Each Divemaster course we offer is tailor-made to suit your level of experience and we work with you to ensure that by the end of the dive course, you have a solid grounding in all the areas of knowledge development as well as some real work/ practical experience that you can add to your CV when applying for future jobs within the dive industry.

We currently accept 2 people per season onto the Divemaster Internship programme. If you are not accepted onto the Internship programme, you may still pay to do your Divemaster course with us.

When can I start?

The best time of year to start a Divemaster Inernship with us is from October to January since this is our high season (from October to mid-May). This means the boats are out daily, there will be a variety of courses for you to assist on and will give you enough time to complete both the practical and theoretical sections of the course.

What equipment do I need?

To start the Divemaster Internship, you don’t need any equipment. However, by the time you complete your Divemaster training, you should have a full set. In order to work as a Divemaster, most dive centres would expect you to have your own equipment.

We offer advice and great deals on scuba diving gear- please contact us for further information or click here to see some of the dive equipment deals we offer through IDC-Lanta.

Who can apply?

If you’re aged 18+ and have a 20+ logged dives, have already completed the PADI Advanced Open Water and Rescue Diver courses (or equivalent), are in general good health and fitness, you should be eligible to become a fully certified Divemaster. You must also have an up-to-date (within 2 years) CPR certification or Emergency First Responder qualification. If you need to complete more dives, or the Advanced, EFR or Rescue Diver courses, please take a look at the multi-course package price deals.

We are looking for people who will become part of the Narima Dive Team. We expect you to be involved in running the shop (just like our other staff) and hope that after you complete your training, you will continue to work as a professional Divemaster with us. We therefore limit the number of Divemaster Trainee positons we offer each year, to ensure we can devote enough time to training you well.

Tell us about you skills.
