Have you ever asked yourself, ‘What was that fish?’
The PADI Project AWARE Fish ID Specialty course provides you with the fish identification basics so that next time, you’ll know the answer and will understand what you are seeing. Learn about identifying fish through their genus, species and family through physiological differences and find out more about the biodiversity of our marine area and habitats. The PADI Project AWARE Fish ID Specialty course provides you with fish identification basics so that when you dive, you know what you’re witnessing. If you’re aged 10+ and have already completed the PADI Open Water Diver course (or equivalent), in general good health and fitness, and are not suffering from a cold or ear infection, you should be eligible to become a certified PADI AWARE Fish ID Specialty Diver. Please check the health requirements for this course.

During your AWARE Fish Identification Diver Specialty course, you’ll practice basic fish identification techniques then collect fish identification data. The course includes all the background you’ll need to identify fish in this area, including:
Information on Project AWARE and aquatic protection worldwide.
Characteristics of local fish families and species.
Fish survey techniques and strategies.
Fish identification dive planning, organization and procedures.

Let Narima Diving introduce you to the most common fish families and species found in tropical waters. Through participation in the PADI AWARE Fish ID Specialty Course you’ll also learn basic fish identification and scientific survey techniques as well as how important personal involvement is in aquatic conservation. During two dives you’ll gain hands-on experience looking for and identifying the fascinating fish you see underwater.

Courses start every day, at a time to suit you. You can book now, or come in to see see us while you’re on holiday in Ko Lanta. We offer free transfers to and from your resort in Ko Lanta for any of our dive courses or daily dive trips. We run PADI AWARE Fish ID Courses in English, German, Swedish and French. We run semi-supported courses in Danish, Norwegian, Finnish, Spanish, Italian, Dutch and Thai. Please let us know if you require course materials in another language and we will order them for you.

The PADI AWARE Fish ID Course costs 8,900 THB. At Narima Diving, our scuba certification courses include any course materials such as manuals, free scuba diving equipment rental and even a free t-shirt!
We keep group sizes small to ensure you receive maximum benefit from your tuition (maximum 4 students per Instructor). This also minimises negative impact on the reefs. Our emphasis is on safety, fun and personal service within a relaxed and stress-free environment.
