Ko Haa Cathedral
The Cathedral dive site is one of Ko Haa‘s highlights – to experience diving through a series of large and spectacular, interconnected caverns and swim-throughs is truly awe-inspiring.
The largest cavern has three chambers and in known as ‘The Cathedral’. The first two chambers are connected by a shallow swim through at about 9 metres.
It’s possible to surface inside the Cathedral and see the limestone stalactites looming from the high ceilings. Light floods in through the two large entrances and offers great underwater photographic opportunities.
The shallow area in front of the beach at this dive site is packed with coral and is perfect for beginner divers.
Don’t miss the huge coral formations near the beach area that are several metres high. Mushroom corals provide a home for many types of shrimp, small crustaceans and an abundance of delightful and colourful Christmas Tree Worms.
Christmas Tree Worms have magnificent twin spiral plumes used for feeding & respiration. They come in many colors including orange, yellow, blue, and white. They are very sensitive and will rapidly retract into their burrow at even a passing shadow. They re-emerge very slowly about a minute later, to test the water before fully extending their plumes.
